#10 Hike Up Dalt Villa

A trip to Ibiza wouldn't be complete with a trip to Ibiza Town to explore Dalt Villa. Entrance to the castle is completely free and you can hike to the top of the castle to get a beautiful view of the harbour and the city below. There are a number of boutique bars and restaurants within the castle walls and you can get a cocktail while looking down on the town below.

A great way to spend the day if the weather isn't great is to go and explore the cobbled streets of Ibiza Town which are lined with quirky shops, bars and cafe's to keep you occupied on a rainy day.

#9 Drummers at Benirras Beach

Benirras beach has long been a magnet for hippy travelers and free spirits and the market here on a Sunday attracts visitors from all over the island.

At sunset a troupe of drummers plays while the sun goes down which creates a hypnotic energy in the crowd while you watch the sunset sink below the horizon. A rift formed amongst the drummers when some of them wanted to start getting paid to drum as they saw how many tourists they were drawing to the beach to the benefit of the restaurants and market stalls, but the other members of the group didn't believe it was in the spirit of why they were drumming and so some of them broke away from the group.

What started as a small hippy ritual on a Sunday has grown to become a major tourist attraction so we would recommend its best to visit out of high season and arrive early to find a good parking space!

#8 Space & Time

These two awesome pieces of contemporary art were designed by the Australian artist Andrew Rogers and were commissioned to be built by the Canadian billionaire and founder of Cirque de Soleit, Guy Laliberte. An eccentric man who was infamously one of the first space tourists on Virgin space flights and went into space dressed as a clown!

He built the structures on land next to his 30 million euro mansion and intended to commission an entire outdoor sculpture park that would be open to the public. But unfortunately he built them without acquiring planning permission and was fined a record breaking 12 million euros. Luckily though the pieces were left to stand and you can come and explore them for free.

The first piece is constructed to work as a giant sundial and the second appears as though an old villa has crumbled to the ground and all that was left was the doorways which perfectly frame the rock of Es Vedra in the distance.

#7 The Abandoned Festival Club

The abandoned Festival Club near San Jose is an amazing piece of Ibiza clubbing history and definitely something worth seeing if you plan on exploring the island.

The super club opened in 1970 and was host to the likes of Bob Marley and David Bowie before a fuel crisis in the early 1970s put the brakes on tourism and the club closed its doors in 1972 only 2 years after opening never to reopen again. The club was comprised of a huge outdoor concert area with views of Sa Talai, an indoor nightclub and strangely a bull ring which apparently drunk revelers could go in and have a turn dodging the bulls in exchange for winning some drinks tokens. There was definitely less interest paid to health and safety back then!

It is a fantastic photo spot with the crumbling walls covered in amazing graffiti art in sharp contrast to the beautiful rolling hills covered in pine trees.

#6 The Abandoned Hotel - Cala den Sera

The hotel was designed by the acclaimed Spanish architect Josep Lluís Sert in the 1960s. However when Josep was exiled to the United States because due to his political affiliations and his aversion to General Franco’s totalitarian rule. His chief clerk of works Antonio Ferran signed off on the project to hide the fact that Josep was the designer as his name was now held in disrepute by the fascist Spanish government.

By the beggining of the 1970s the main foundations and structure of the building were laid out but building came to a halt because of the 1970s fuel crisis and the resulting plummet in tourism. The same crisis that caused the closure of the abandoned festival club near San Jose.

The remains of the hotel sit in a picturesque bay next to the beautiful beach of Cala den Serra. The walls are covered in some awesome graffiti including the face of a woman which perfectly joins with the sea and the sky. Be careful if you do decide to explore the ruins as areas of it are not structurally safe.

#5 Sa Talaia - The Highest Point

The mountain of Sa Talaia near to San Jose is the highest point in Ibiza and you can get beautiful panoramic views from the top with views of San Antonio, Ibiza Town and Es Vedra in the distance.

The road up to the top is very potholed so we wouldn't recommend driving up if you have a hire car and are worried about the excess. However you can also hike to the top from San Jose in around an hour and a half. If you are feeling adventurous and want a really amazing experience then try hiking to the top before sunset and watch the sunrise over the island!

For those seeking an adrenaline rush there are countless places around the island where you can get a thrill for free by jumping into the big blue. There are some great spots at Calla Bassa, Cala Salada and Punta Galera to name just a few but be sure to check with locals first that you are jumping in a safe place!

#3 Explore the Lost City of Atlantis

Down on the other side of the Es Vedra watch tower lies an ancient quarry where they cut the blocks to build the tower above. The locals call this place Atlantis where the square steps cut out of the rock look like ancient ruins and form a natural pool where you can dip in for a swim to cool down from the hike. There are some cliff jumps here as well but they are at least 40ft high and not a good idea to try if you don't have any experience of cliff jumping.

Be warned that the hike is not for the faint hearted and that going down is much easier than going back up again! So make sure that you wear suitable footwear and take plenty of water with you!

#2 Es Vedra Sunset

The island of Es Vedra is the 3rd most magnetic place on earth and rumored to be the home of the Sirens from Greek mythology. Some people believe the islands magnetism is what gives Ibiza it's undeniable energy. Despite being the most magnificent view on the island not many visitors make the trip to the remote view point for sunset which makes it even more special.

There is a hippy who lives in the cave at the top lookout point who has appointed himself as the guardian of Es Vedra and is very protective of the area. Beware that if you are playing music or flying a drone you are likely to find yourself being accosted by an angry hippy.

You can get a taxi to Es Vedra for between 30-40 euros depending where you are staying on the Island or if you would rather go as part of an organised trip we offer guided excursions which end with the sunset at Es Vedra with bottomless champagne, tapas and live music!

#1 Watch the Sunrise at Ses Salinas

The salt pans at Las Salinas are undoubtedly the most beautiful place on the whole island to watch the sunrise from! In the calmness of the early morning the darkness slowly fades as the sky is filled with hews of fluorescent pink and fiery orange as the sun emerges over the horizon. Then as the sky fills with colour the perfectly still salt pans reflect the colour from the sky like a polished mirror so that the line between the heavens and the earth is blurred.

If you are coming out of a nightclub close to sunset and want to see something amazing try getting a taxi to watch the sunrise at Ses Salinas.
